Summary

The
Situation
A governmental
agency
contracted
with
a firm
in the
northern
part
of the
United
States
to compost
hydrocarbon
contaminated
soil,
which
was
a heavy
clay,
soil
mix.
The
firm
continuously
tested
and
monitored
the
compost
site
for
five
years
without
achieving
clean-up
standards.
Test
reports
indicated
the
presence
of elevated
Total
Petroleum
Hydrocarbon
(TPH)
levels
ranging
from
150
mg/Kg
to 3700
mg/kg.
The
Solution
Bio-Form LLC
recommended
a biological
treatment
program
utilizing
OBT®.
The
program
consisted
of OBT®
Oil
Degradation
and
BZT®
Xtra-Wet
applications.
The
soil
was
tilled
and
moisture
was
tested
and
adjusted.
The
Results
After
just
three
months,
Total
Petroleum
Hydrocarbon
(TPH)
levels
had
been
reduced
to less
than
10 mg/Kg
using
method
8015.
The
governmental
agency
was
able
to officially
close
this
site.
