AEROBIC
DIGESTER
- WASTEWATER
TREATMENT
FACILITY
Biological
Treatment
Summary
The
Situation
Bio-Form LLC
in conjunction
with
a company
who
specializes
in the
privatization
of wastewater
treatment
facilities
and,
responsible
for
the
operation
of a
municipal
wastewater
treatment
facility
performed
a test
application
on a
1MG
[3,785m³]
aerobic
digester.
During
the
treatment,
physical
and
quantitative
data
was
measured.
Similar
measurements
were
performed
on another
aerobic
digester
on site
for
comparative
purposes.
During
the
course
of the
project,
the
company's
contract
was
not
renewed
and
the
project
had
to be
halted.
Although
the
project
was
not
carried
out
to completion,
several
key
benefits
were
noted.
The
Results
- Odor
was
greatly
reduced
and
nearly
eliminated
within
24
hours
of
the
initial
application.
Odor
control
was
maintained
throughout
the
course
of
the
project.
- BOD
&
COD
levels
dropped
at
a
rate
that
had
never
been
seen
at
the
facility.
-
Physical
testing
indicated
that
the
solids
were
being
reduced
and
transformed
into
an
easier
solid
to
decant.
-
After
the
project
was
halted
and
the
test
digester
emptied,
the
BZT®
Waste
Digester
did
not
inhibit
the
facility's
ability
to
decant
and
dewater
the
solids.
Exact
data
was
unobtainable
due
to
the
fact
that
during
the
decanting
of
the
digester,
the
digester
had
to
be
used
for
storage
because
of
an
emergency
relating
to
a
broken
pump.
